By Way of Introduction
Many
people hesitate to visit a church unless they know what it will be like when
they go. Perhaps we can help you know what to expect when you visit the church
of Christ.
Our Worship is Simple and
Devout
Our
services are conducted in a quiet, worshipful atmosphere. They are designed to
draw the worshipers closer to God and to provide enduring Spiritual Strength.
Our worship consists only of those elements which the New Testament reveals as
having been used as worship by the church in the days of the apostles. We sing
and pray, partake of the Lord's supper, have the Word of God preached for our
instruction, and give of our means for the spreading of the Gospel, and caring
for the poor. In all of this we seek to maintain the attitude which Christ
taught when He said: "God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must
worship in Spirit and Truth." (John 4:24)
Our Authority Is The
Bible Alone
Our
source of authority is that which is found only in the inspired Scripture.
Therefore, we seek to be governed in all that we do by God's Holy Bible. Since
the Scriptures are sufficient for our every need (II Timothy 3:16-17), our
preaching and teaching contains only that which is commanded in the Bible.
Our People Are Christians
Only
The
division in the religious world today is far different from the unity enjoyed
by the early Christians, before traditionalism and distinctive names divided
them. Believing such division to be contrary to the Scriptures, we have no
Denominational organization or name, doctrine or creed. Following the
teachings of Christ and His apostles, individually we are known as Christians,
collectively as a church of Christ.
You Will Never Be
Embarrassed
You
visit us as a welcome and respected guest. At the end of the sermon those
wishing to become Christians are invited to step to the front of the
auditorium to let their wishes be known. But never is anyone singled out for
public attention. People are urged from the pulpit to accept the gospel and to
yield its call with deep spiritual conviction.
You Will Find A Friendly
Spirit
We
believe that friendliness is a natural attitude among people who truly love
God. Our visitors, who always receive a warm welcome, appreciate the courtesy
and cordiality of these Christians. We truly hope you will accept our
invitation to meet with us soon. You will be benefited by coming. You will
find a list of our services inside.
What is The Church of
Christ ?
One
question that comes to mind when visiting the Church of Christ is "What
is the Church of Christ and who are these people that want to be just
Christians?" For this and other related topics visit

is the Church of Christ.

Reflections
by Kerry Morris
A Day Of Rejoicing
In the days of Ezra when the Jews had returned to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple there is a moving account of what took place when the foundation of the temple was laid. In Ezra 3:10-11 we are told of a celebration with trumpets, singing, shouting and great giving of thanks. What a day that must have been! What a thrill it must have been to be there and to witness the beginning of the work in rebuilding the temple of God!
The part of this account which really moves me is verse 12. There we read, "Yet many of the priests and Levites and heads of fathers' households, the old men who had seen the first temple, wept with a loud voice when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, while many shouted aloud for joy, ". It is a day of joy for those who have never known anything else but it is a day of weeping for those who remember the temple in it's former glory. Those who were older in some sense realized that Israel would never return to the good old days and that somehow things would never be the same.
Life is full of disappointments. Things don't usually turn out the way we plan. All along the way there are changes in life and from time to time our expectations have to be adjusted to fit with reality. I am not saying that life is miserable. I'm only saying that our hopes and dreams are often based on what we want not upon realistic expectations. In the end things actually often turn out better for us than we could of dreamed... but not at all the way we had expected. On that day when the foundation of the new temple was laid how could any of them know that God had a glorious plan to dwell, not in a building, but actually in us? How could they envision that God would come to live on this earth and then reside in His people as His holy temple? Could they even imagine that God's Spirit working in us could transform us into the glorious image of His Son?.
Whatever you are going through today and no matter how disappointed you may be, have you considered that God may have something better ahead that is so wonderful you could not imagine it even if He told you? Today you may be weeping but if you are a faithful child of God, the Bible promises that even if not in this life, eventually ...tomorrow will surely be a day of rejoicing.
"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Romans 8:18 NASU
