By Way of Introduction

Many people hesitate to visit a church unless they know what it will be like when they go. Perhaps we can help you know what to expect when you visit the church of Christ.

Our Worship is Simple and Devout

Our services are conducted in a quiet, worshipful atmosphere. They are designed to draw the worshipers closer to God and to provide enduring Spiritual Strength. Our worship consists only of those elements which the New Testament reveals as having been used as worship by the church in the days of the apostles. We sing and pray, partake of the Lord's supper, have the Word of God preached for our instruction, and give of our means for the spreading of the Gospel, and caring for the poor. In all of this we seek to maintain the attitude which Christ taught when He said: "God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship in Spirit and Truth." (John 4:24)

Our Authority Is The Bible Alone

Our source of authority is that which is found only in the inspired Scripture. Therefore, we seek to be governed in all that we do by God's Holy Bible. Since the Scriptures are sufficient for our every need (II Timothy 3:16-17), our preaching and teaching contains only that which is commanded in the Bible.

Our People Are Christians Only

The division in the religious world today is far different from the unity enjoyed by the early Christians, before traditionalism and distinctive names divided them. Believing such division to be contrary to the Scriptures, we have no Denominational organization or name, doctrine or creed. Following the teachings of Christ and His apostles, individually we are known as Christians, collectively as a church of Christ.

You Will Never Be Embarrassed

You visit us as a welcome and respected guest. At the end of the sermon those wishing to become Christians are invited to step to the front of the auditorium to let their wishes be known. But never is anyone singled out for public attention. People are urged from the pulpit to accept the gospel and to yield its call with deep spiritual conviction.

You Will Find A Friendly Spirit

We believe that friendliness is a natural attitude among people who truly love God. Our visitors, who always receive a warm welcome, appreciate the courtesy and cordiality of these Christians. We truly hope you will accept our invitation to meet with us soon. You will be benefited by coming. You will find a list of our services inside.

A Life With No Risk

When I go through security at the airport, preparing to board a plane, I have to take out my laptop computer and my organizer and empty my pockets. Then they search my bag physically and run an instrument over it that looks for any evidence of explosives. It is all done professionally, efficiently, and politely. I usually thank the security people before I proceed to my gate. I join most Americans in being willing to surrender some privacy and time in exchange for a sense of safety and security.

Even with security guards, police, dogs and the most sophisticated equipment we put ourselves at risk when we fly. Besides the present danger of terrorism there is the risk of mechanical error, human error, bad weather and sleepy air traffic controllers. Have you ever been on your way to board your plane and a pilot pulling his carry on bag comes out of an airport bar in front of you? Feel secure?

It’s not just flying either. There are car accidents, fires, cancer, strokes, heart attacks and all kinds of diseases with which to contend. You aren’t even safe in your own house. Life is a risk with or without Anthrax. It could go on for years or it could end just like that without any warning. Death is inevitable for all of us. Nothing we do can alter that fact or postpone the time when it comes. The Bible says,“And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment”(Hebrews 9:27).

At this point (if you are still reading at all) you must be thinking that I'm suffering from a death complex or something. Actually my point is this: the search for absolute safety and security in this life is futile. Unless the Lord comes while we are still alive, we will all suffer death. The first death is certain. Only the second death is avoidable. The second death is being thrown into the lake of fire with the devil and his angels and being tormented forever ( Revelation 20:14; 21:8). According to scripture those who have been raised with Christ need not fear the second death (Romans 6:1-7; I Corinthians 15:50-58; Revelation 20:6). Those who overcome will not experience the second death (Revelation 2:11). You may not be safe in this life but you can be assured in the next. That is security you can count on. Eternal life is no risk life.
